The number of properties sold in Louth increased by 14% last year, new figures from the Property Price Register have revealed.

The stats show that there were 751 homes sold in the county last year, compared with 659 in 2012.

While a number of houses in Saltown sold for a combined total of €3,090,000 last year, the biggest single sale was a property on the Armagh Road for €1.9m. Carlinn Hall was the next largest sale at €1,233,480.10, followed by Ellen Forest in Heynestown, Blackrock for €670,000.

While there were sales in Collon and Termonfeckin for €10,000, the cheapest property sold in Dundalk last year was 35 Grange Drive in Muirhevnamor for €15,000.

The 14% increase in transactions coincides with what local estate agents have been describing as increased interest in the market in the last few months.

That is witnessed by one of the first open viewings in some time this Sunday from 2pm to 4pm in Knockshee on the Old Golf Links Road in Blackrock.
