There will be no one prosecuted over the murder of Dublin man Stephen Hanaphy in Ardee in October 2010, it has been confirmed.
The 20-year-old from Coolock was found lying on his back in a grass area of the Sliabh Breagh estate in the early hours of the morning on October 30th 2010.
He had been shot in the chest.
At least nine people have been arrested in connection with the shooting but it has now been confirmed that there will be no prosecution.
The shooting occurred after a gang of four smashed their way into a house in Ardee, where they were confronted by the occupant and his son.
Mr Hanaphy, who was also known as Stephen ‘Stomper’ Lyndon’ was shot in the chest and collapsed and died after staggering from the scene.
His body was found shortly after 4am under a tree in an open area about 300 metres from the house.
The three other members of the gang who carried out the initial attack abandoned their car at the scene and fled. One of them hailed a taxi to make his escape.
A second man in his 20s, who suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, later presented himself at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
