Just 48 hours after their victory over Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds on Saturday night, Dundalk FC will be back in action tonight when they make the trip to Tallaght Stadium to take on Shamrock Rovers in the Setanta Sports Cup semi-final first leg.

Dane Massey’s 92nd minute header in Sligo gave the Lilywhites a 1-0 victory that at least puts the side in positive form ahead of tonight’s match but manager Stephen Kenny insists it is “crazy” that his team are being asked to play two games in such quick succession.

“It is crazy situation that we have got to go on the road again, but there is nothing we can do about it. We just have to prepare properly because it is a big opportunity.

“It is a difficult task home and away over the two legs against Shamrock Rovers. They have started the season very well and we will have to be at our best to beat them.”

Kick-off tonight is at 8pm with the game being shown live on Setanta Sports, with coverage getting underway from 7.30pm.
