Dundalk defender Andy Boyle is in danger of missing his side’s crucial Premier Division clash against holders St Patrick’s Athletic at Oriel Park on Friday June 13th.
The centre half, who has been filling in as captain since Stephen O’Donnell’s season-ending injury on Good Friday, appeared to pick up two yellow cards without being sent-off by referee Jim McKell in last night’s 5-2 victory over UCD.
The FAI confirmed the matter today and said they would now be dealing with the matter, leaving Boyle sweating on a potential one match ban for a game that could prove crucial in deciding the destination of this year’s SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title.
The FAI statement read: “Following receipt of the referee’s report from last night’s SSE Airtricity League Premier Division match between Dundalk and UCD at Oriel Park it has been confirmed that Dundalk player Andy Boyle (No. 4) received yellow cards in the 51st minute and 75th minute.
“The matter will now be dealt with by the FAI Disciplinary Committee and the FAI Elite Referees Committee.”
