the Taste of Togher front

The third annual Taste of Togher Festival takes place in Linn Duachaill Restaurant (The Glyde Inn), Annagassan this Saturday from 12 noon to 5pm.

This year the festival will be celebrating the rich Viking culture and local artisan foods of the area. Dr Mark Clinton, Director of Excavations at the Linn Duachaill Viking site in Annagassan will deliver a talk relating to the kind of foods the Vikings would have eaten while in Annagassan, while one of the local chefs will prepare some of these ancient dishes.

There will be plenty of local fare on offer. You will find delectable treats like cheese, honey, jam, cupcakes and much more. You are also invited to sample some local craft beer with BRU in Trim or Dan Kelly’s cider / apple juice from Drogheda available.

What’s more, there will be cooking demonstrations and kids cookery workshops by Tara from thetastytart.ie and Dermot Seberry of Food Tours.

There will also be local traditional Irish music to keep everyone entertained while the Chowder of the Year competition will feature some of the North East’s best restaurants.
