Four people were arrested in Fr Murray Park yesterday on public order offences following a protest against the installation of water meters in the estate.
The quartet were escorted from the scene by Gardaí and later appeared before Dundalk District Court.
Three of those arrested were ordered to stay away from Irish Water employees, their contractor and their equipment. A fourth man, who refused to give his name, was remanded in custody overnight.
Water charges came into effect yesterday but the installation of meters is still ongoing throughout the town and county.
