Those living and working in Louth and with an interest in its development are being invited to help shape the county’s future into the 2020s by contributing to the Louth County Development Plan, 2015-2021. Louth County Council is calling on communities throughout Louth to get involved in the preparation of the County Development Plan.

A draft plan has been prepared for County Louth. Once adopted, the Plan will have significant implications for a wide variety of aspects of life within the county and it is important that all points of view are taken into account in the process. Local Area Plans will be prepared at a local level for the towns of Dundalk, Drogheda, Ardee and Dunleer.

The Council is now inviting local communities to have their say on the draft plan which is available for inspection during normal opening hours at Louth County Council customer service desks and libraries throughout the county.

Locations where the plan can be viewed include County Hall, Millennium Centre, Dundalk; Town Hall, Crowe Street, Dundalk; Council Offices, Fair Street, Drogheda, Mid-Louth Civic Centre, Fairgreen, Ardee and at libraries in Dundalk, Drogheda, Ardee, Dunleer and Carlingford.

Cllr Oliver Tully, Cathaoirleach, Louth County Council said: “It is vital that as many individuals and communities in the county as possible share their thoughts and opinions with Louth County Council as we look to shape Louth’s future. I would encourage as many people as possible to go and have a look at the draft plan which is available for inspection at numerous locations throughout the county and to make a submission on any aspect of it that interests them.”

Written submissions and observations on the draft plan may be made between Monday, October 6 and Wednesday, December 17.

All interested parties are entitled to make submissions / observations including children or groups representing children’s interests. All such submissions/observations received within the statutory period will be taken into consideration prior to the making of the plan. The next phase of the plan making process is to prepare a Manager’s Report on those submissions/observations received. The Manager’s Report alongside the draft plan will then be considered by the local councillors.
