In the last few days local TD Peter Fitzpatrick has announced that a number of local organisations have received grants from the Department of Health’s 2014 allocation of the National Lottery funds.
The big winner was the Maria Gorretti Foundation in Lordship, which is set to receive €30,000 in funding towards the cost of the completion of the respite facility for children with disability and life threatening conditions.
Other local organisations to benefit include Louth Community Men’s Shed (€5,000), SNAP (€2,500), Áit na nDaoine – Cuidigh Linn (€2,000) and Cooley Complex Ltd (€2,000).
Meanwhile, Dundalk Youth Café (€9,250) and Youth Work Ireland in Cox’s Demesne (€3,020) are also set to receive capital grants from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
The youth café will use the funding for musical and digital arts equipment while the funding in Cox’s will go towards iPads, game consoles, a TV, gym equipment and a cooker.
