Two men were arrested in Dundalk yesterday morning as part of a Garda investigation into dissident Republican activity in the area.
A man in his 40s was arrested during a planned operation in the Point Road area yesterday morning. Members of the Regional Support Unit stopped and searched a car and recovered a rifle as part of their search.
A second man in his 50s was later arrested during a follow up search at a nearby house.
Both men are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Dundalk Garda Station, and enquiries are ongoing.
