Local TD Peter Fitzpatrick has confirmed that construction on the new manufacturing and office facilities in Dundalk will commence next year.
The new facilities will be built as part of IDA Ireland’s investment of over €150 million as part of the Action Plan for Jobs, with Dundalk one of the nine locations set to be benefit from the investment.
Deputy Fitzpatrick said the new facilities “will attract foreign direct investment to Dundalk and the surrounding areas including the Cooley area, Ardee and Dunleer.”
He also said he was pleased with local Live Register figures, saying that things were moving in the right direction.
“It is worth noting that unemployment has fallen from over 15% to 10% and in Dundalk there has been a fall of over 19% from a high in 2011 when Fine Gael took over Government. This represents a net fall of 3,438 people who have been taken off the Live Register in Dundalk and surrounding areas,” said Fitzpatrick.
“It is clear that we in Louth are now competing with Dublin and Cork in attracting foreign direct investment, which can be seen with the new jobs announcements by SalesSense and PayPal recently.”
