Dundalk FC’s hopes of advancing in the Champions League have been boosted after Oriel Park yesterday passed the test to host the club’s first round fixture in July.
The club yesterday received its UEFA level 2 grade licence to stage European football at the Carrick Road venue, which will give Stephen Kenny’s side a boost in their hopes of advancing beyond the first qualifying stage.
Should they go further, however, it is likely they would have to play in an alternative venue, such as Tallaght Stadium.
The club have also been granted their Premier Division licence for their forthcoming SSE Airtricity League season, as expected.
