An illegally parked car taking up two disabled parking spaces at the Long Walk Shopping Centre
Louth County Council are to investigate the possibility of setting up a text alert service which members of the public can use to report people who are illegally parked in disabled bays throughout the county.
The proposed text or helpline number was suggested by independent councillor Maeve Yore and would be monitored by traffic wardens, who would enforce penalties on any offenders.
A similar model has been implemented to great success in Cavan with costings currently being examined. If implemented, it would be in force in Ardee, Dundalk and Drogheda.
