Thursday sees the return of the DkIT Library Film Club with a screening of Into the Wild at 2pm.
The film centres on Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch), son of wealthy parents (Marcia Gay Harden, William Hurt). Christopher graduates from Emory University as a top student and athlete. However, instead of embarking on a prestigious and profitable career, he chooses to give his savings to charity, rid himself of his possessions, and set out on a journey to the Alaskan wilderness. What happens to him on the way transforms this young wanderer into an enduring symbol for countless people.
Was Christopher McCandless a heroic adventurer or a naive idealist? DkIT Library Film Club invites you to come along and decide for yourself.
