Dundalk FC made it two wins from two in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division courtesy of a 1-0 win away to Derry City in the Brandywell last night.
The crucial breakthrough came in the 65th minute when left back Dane Massey latched on to a Ronan Finn pass to steer a first-time shot past Ger Doherty.
Earlier both David McMillan and Finn had been denied by Doherty with the Lilywhites having to weather a mini-storm at the start of the second half before Massey’s breakthrough – a blow which the Candystripes never recovered from.
That means it’s the perfect start for Stephen Kenny’s side, following on from their 1-0 victory over Longford Town on the opening day.
Dundalk are next in action in the league on Friday night when they host 2013 champions St Patrick’s Athletic at Oriel Park.
