Dundalk FC release statement in relation to attack on supporters’ buses in Derry

DundalkCrest2010Dundalk Football Club have released a statement in relation to the incident which occurred outside the Brandywell on Friday following the club’s 1-0 victory over Derry City, in which three supporters’ buses were attacked.

Windows on the buses were broken while at least a handful of supporters received injuries.

Dundalk say that they have been in touch with Derry City to ensure it does not happen again.

The statement read: “Everybody at Dundalk FC would like to thank the fans who made the trip to the Brandywell on Friday night. Stephen Kenny and the team really appreciate the loud passionate support that you provided the lads throughout the match.

“We were alarmed at the events that took place after the match and have discussed the issue at length with Derry City FC who have informed us that they are taking steps to ensure that this does not happen again.

“We hope everybody who made the trip home on damaged buses has recovered from what was obviously a distressing incident.”
