A representative of the Spanish Consulate visited Annagassan this afternoon to discuss the first stage of a twinning proposal with Catoira, which shares a Viking heritage.
Catoira, in Galicia in Spain, is the location of a sizeable viking settlement and the Spanish Consulate met with local groups, the County Museum and archaeologists involved in the Annagassan Viking settlement, which has been described as one of the best preserved such settlements in Europe.
The meeting took place in The Glyde Inn.
