The popular Dundalk Walking Tours organised by the County Museum are set to resume from next month.

Tours will take place every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11am, with the first tour of the season taking place on Tuesday, June 9.

The guided walking tours will take in the various historical attractions of Dundalk town centre with tour charge also including admission to the County Museum, featuring Ireland’s first 1916 centenary exhibition ‘Birth of A Nation – The Evolution of Irish Nationhood, 1641-1916’.

The County Museum Dundalk Walking Tours will be dependent on weather and a minimum number of walkers will be required.

Curator Brian Walsh explained that the walking tours have become a part of the museum’s event calendar.

“We have been organising these Walking Tours for a number of years now and they continue year after year to be a popular part of our events programme. There is a lot of history in and around the Dundalk area, perhaps more than people realise and it is great to get people talking about what they are finding out and sharing their own knowledge.

“Of course, the tours are also very popular with visitors to the area who get to have the guided walking tour but also meet with locals taking the tour and tap into their local knowledge. Including museum admission makes the tours exceptional value for money, whether for visitors or locals.”

Walking Tours will cost €3 per person with a €1.50 offer for school groups, including summer schools. Both prices include admission to the County Museum.
