It is not known whether the arrests are connect to an incident which saw shots fired at a house in Rockfield Manor in the early hours of this morning
Four people were arrested after a car was stopped and searched on Hoey’s Lane earlier today.
The search took place close to Dundalk IT.
Gardaí are also investigating an incident in which shots were fired at a house in the nearby Rockfield Manor estate at 3.40am this morning.
This was the second dangerous incident to happen in Rockfield Manor in the last few months.
Back in April a number of residents were evacuated from their homes in the early hours of the morning when an improvised explosive device detonated in the estate.
It is not known at this time whether the two incidents are related.
