Peter Fitzpatrick has not thrown the towel in with local politics just yet.
Last week the local TD announced he was withdrawing his name from the running for next month’s Fine Gael selection convention.
However, in an exclusive interview in this week’s Dundalk Democrat the former Louth GAA boss admitted he may opt to retain his Dáil seat by running either as an independent or with another political party.
Fitzpatrick told the paper: “I’ve a lot of meetings organised over the next two weeks with a number of different people. Whatever decision I make will stick with me for the rest of my life.”
