Local TD Peter Fitzpatrick was the guest of honour at the Rock Road on Saturday as Na Piarsaigh GFC turned the sod on their new clubhouse development.
Plans for the development have been in the offing for some time but now they are set to become a reality with former Louth boss Fitzpatrick praising the efforts of all involved.
He said: “On Saturday I had the great honour and privilege of turning the sod on Na Piarsaigh’s exciting new development.
“As Dundalk’s youngest GAA club it really is great to see the progress they have made over the last number of years. I am pleased to have helped them secure the €120,000 sports capital grant and look forward to helping them in the future as they embark on what will be very exciting times for the club.”
Fitzpatrick also encouraged people to support Na Piarsaigh’s upcoming fundraisers which would pay for the extension.
“I know from speaking to some of the members that a major fundraising effort is now needed to raise the remainder of the funds required to finish the project. I would urge everyone to get involved in the fundraising efforts of the club which will see the development of the grounds which will be of immense benefit to the many people who are associated with the club,” he said.
