St John’s Castle in Carlingford is set to receive €85,000 in funding toward access, safety and presentation works.
It is one of three national monuments – along with Kilmainham Gaol and Tara – to receive the funding from the Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Heather Humphries and Minister of State Simon Harris.
The announcement was welcomed by local TD Fergus O’Dowd, who added: “This will help to sustain our tourist industry and make the castle accessible and safer for visitors.”
