An Garda Síochána have released a new video in memory of murdered Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe, a year one from his killing.
The anniversary of Adrian’s death is later this month and the Gardaí are using the video not only to commemorate his memory but also to issue a renewed plea for any information into the murder in Bellurgan.
Writing on their YouTube channel, Garda officials said: “One year ago on the 25th January 2013, Adrian Donohoe, a Police Detective working for Ireland’s Garda Síochána was shot dead in the line of duty. His killers – a 5 person gang – fled with just €4,000 from the Credit Union bank Adrian and his colleague were protecting in Bellurgan, Jenkinstown, County Louth in the Republic of Ireland. Adrian was the father of two young children, whose school was opposite the scene of the murder and the home he shared with his wife and children located just a mile away.
“To date, certain people in the border region of County Louth and South Armagh in Northern Ireland have protected and shielded his killers. Some out of cowardly loyalty to the murderers and others out of a misguided sense of fear. The Police will protect those who come forward with information, but will prosecute those who do not. If you have any information pertaining to the investigation, please do not hesitate to stand up and speak up for Adrian’s family, his friends and colleagues, and his – your – community. It’s never ‘too late’. Any and all tips will be handled in the strictest confidence.
“There is a €50,000 reward for information.”
