A man was arrested in Dundalk yesterday evening after becoming violently aggressive towards Gardaí in the Barrack Street area of the town.
Gardaí seized a firearm from the 33-year-old after responding to a call of a disturbance in public order around 7pm.
The man was found to be in possession of a firearm that was in a bag he was carrying. Six ‘locking’ knifes were also seized following his arrest.
The man is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939-98 at Dundalk Garda Station.
