To celebrate National Tree Week, Louth Woodland Gatherings will be hosting a walk through Ravensdale Forest on Saturday March 8th.
The walk will take in all five, uniquely different bridges of the forest.
Afterwards there will take a break where, weather permitting, a picnic will be had at the picnic area back at the car park.
After refreshments and again weather permitting, the group shall head to one of Ireland’s champion trees, Ravensdale Monterey Pine.
At 7.67m in girth and 33m high it is the largest pine in Ireland with a single stem. The crown is beginning to thin, which suggests that it is past its prime at about 150 years old.
Everyone is welcome to attend with the meeting point being the forest car park at 1pm.
Walkers are advised to wear comfortable footwear that you won’t mind getting dirty. A raincoat is also advised.
Also bring some food and drink for yourself in case the picnic goes ahead.
