The St Vincent’s play is based upon the hit film ‘The Wedding Singer’, starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler
St Vincent’s Transition Year students take to the boards once again next week marking their eighth consecutive annual musical. Following hot on the heels of last year’s original in-house production and runaway success, Definitely Maybe, directors Ms Laura Jones and Ms Victoria O’Hagan have done it again, bringing The Wedding Singer to Dundalk for the first time.
Inspired by Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s box office smash hit, the musical follows the lovelorn and eponymous wedding singer, Robbie Hart, as he does battle with wolf of Wall Street, Glen Guglia, for the heart of the beautiful ingenue, Julia Sullivan.
The musical is brought to life by the visually stunning set created by immensely talented artist and teacher Ms Leanne Mullen, who has taken inspiration from the work of Gustav Klimt, which itself is worthy of a visit. Innovative costumier Ms Anne Stacey Coburn has designed and created a unique and dynamic wardrobe with custom-made costumes for the entire cast. All of this has been made possible with the limitless help, support and talent of one of the best TY groups St Vincent’s has ever seen, co-ordinated by Mr Jonathan Graham.
This exciting premiere will take place in the newly refurbished St Vincent’s school hall from Thursday May 15th until Saturday May 17th. Tickets are selling out fast, so pick up your tickets at the school office without delay.
Priced at €10 and with family and group concessions available, this is a show not to be missed. Don’t miss your opportunity to catch this wonderfully entertaining production.
