A car was destroyed in an apparent arson attack in Kilcurry in the early hours of this morning.
The incident happened in The Annies area at around 2.15am.
The Honda Accord car had been parked in the driveway of the house, which also suffered damage in the blaze.
The owner of the car is understood to have been woken by a loud bang before discovering the back seat of the car on fire and a car driving off in the direction of Roskeagh.
Dundalk Fire Service were called and quickly brought the blaze under control.
Gardaí are investigating the incident and have preserved the scene for technical examination.
