DundalkCrest2010Dundalk’s lead at the top of the table was cut to four points after they were held to a 1-1 draw by neighbours Drogheda Utd in United Park last night.

The Lilywhites looked to have got off to a dream start when Pat Hoban headed home a corner on 19 minutes.

However, direct from the restart Drogheda countered with Gary O’Neill turning his marker to fire past a static Peter Cherrie.

Both sides had chances to win the game after that with Darren Meenan and Daryl Horgan both going close for Dundalk, while Brian Gartland had to head off the line in the second half.

Cork City’s late winner against St Patrick’s Athletic in Turner’s Cross meant they closed the gap back to four points.

Dundalk are next in action at home to Limerick FC on Friday night.
