Local boxer Amy Broadhurst has launched an online crowdfunding campaign on PledgeSports.org to raise money to help her get through the Junior World Boxing Championships in Taiwan later this month.

The 18-year-old, nicknamed the Dundalk Dynamo, has won 11 Irish titles, a European Gold Medal and a Silver Medal and was beaten in the quarter-final of her last World Championships, two years ago in Bulgaria, by the tournament’s winner from the USA.

She said: “I’ve been boxing since the age of seven and fell in love with the sport straight away. Next Wednesday, I will fly to Taiwan to compete in my second World Championships with absolutely no sponsorship behind me.

“Any help that anybody can give would be really appreciated and would mean so much to my family and career.”

Her goal is to raise €1,500 and the Junior European Champion is offering supporters unique rewards in return for their generosity. Click here to support Amy.
