Keith Byrne RIP

The family of Louth Village man Keith Byrne have made an appeal to the hit-and-run driver who knocked him down just 300 metres from his home at Carnalogue a year ago today.

His parents John and Catherine Byrne told today’s Irish Daily Mirror that they could even forgive the person responsible for the 35-year-old’s death if they could just find out what happened to him.

His mum Catherine asked the driver to come forward so they could get on with their lives.

She said she never walked the road since and couldn’t go to the local pubs he drank in either.

Keith, one of five in the family, had gone out with his brothers Donal and David on Saturday May 10th last year and was walking home sometime between 4.15am and 4.45am when he was knocked down and killed.

A passing taxi driver found his body and raised the alarm a short time later.

An €11,000 reward for information, raised in the local community, remains unclaimed.

Anyone with information can contact Ardee Garda Station on 041 6853222.
