Local councillor Marianne Butler has expressed her disappointment at An Bord Pleanala’s decision to give the go ahead to a new waste recovery facility on the Coes Road.

Sean Rooney of Bambi Bins first made the application for a Waste Transfer Station in 2007.

Understandably, there were a number of objections to his plan but the facility was nonetheless given the go ahead recently.

Commenting on her Twitter page, Green Party councillor Butler said she was disappointed with the decision, which is known not to be popular with a number of residents in the Point Road, Bay Estate and Red Barns Road areas.

The go ahead for the new facility will see 90,000 tonnes of waste processed per annum as opposed to the current 27,000 tonnes.
