Local telecommunications company Digiweb has started recruiting additional staff at its IDA Industrial Estate operational centre following the announcement today of its expansion.
Digiweb today announced that it had acquired the retail assets of Belgian-based internet service provider Mondial Telecom for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition will further strengthen the company’s presence in Belgium as it moves into new areas such as mobile broadband and telephony.
According to MD of consumer operations and services, Declan Campbell, Digiweb will now have in the region of 25,000 residential and business users spread all over Belgium.
Campbell said: “Our recent merger with Viatel has granted Digiweb increased access to the European market and we’ll continue to look out for domestic and international growth opportunities.”
All aspects of the company’s Belgium business will be managed from Ireland, leading to new jobs for Dundalk.
