Cuchulainn Cycling Club Dundalk will shortly launch a new women’s only league for 2014.
The league will run every Tuesday evening over eight weeks from Tuesday 6th May and is suitable for women of all abilities from true beginners to advanced racing cyclists since it is handicapped to reflect ability and experience.
Entry is free and you can register on the first night but you must have a Cycling Ireland club competition licence to participate. This is available online at www.cyclingireland.ie
The first night is a five mile time trial from Felda to Castlebellingham and over the next three weeks the club will race on an out and back circuit to Dunleer, covering approximately 30km.
They then plan a 10 mile time trial on week five, followed by two weeks racing a tougher Ravensdale circuit before returning to the Dunleer route to complete the programme of races.
Cuchulainn have been running this league for four years now and have enjoyed inviting local women and girls as well as riders from other clubs including Newry Wheelers and Bohermeen CC. The atmosphere is friendly and sociable with a focus on improving cycling skills and fitness. Most importantly the post-race coffee and chat is always fun!
The club meet every Tuesday evening at 6.30pm at Felda Gym on the Dublin Road and go for a spin to prepare for the league so why not come along and give it a go?
